Emogene Rydin

February 6, 1927 — June 7, 2014

Emogene Broberg Rydin, 87, Thornton, CO, died Saturday, June 7 at Porter Hospice in Centennial. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 14 at the Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church in rural Detroit Lakes, Reverend Dale Robins, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Emogene Rydin was born February 6, 1927 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Albert and Gerda (Roberg) Broberg. She was raised and educated in rural Audubon, MN. She then attended Fargo Business College in Fargo, ND. She then worked for her aunt at the Fargo Mission. Emogene was united in marriage to Orvey Rydin, Oct. 14, 1951 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They spent most of their married life in Wahpeton, Minot, Devils Lake and Fargo, ND. They moved to Rochester Hills, MI in 2004. Orvey died in 2006 and Emogene moved to Colorado in 2010. Emogene enjoyed being active in her church, playing piano for the church in Devils Lake and gardening. Survivors include three sons and a daughter: David (Diane) of Thornton, CO, Lu Anne "Louie" (Jeff) Jones of Russellville, AR, Bruce (Liz) of Troy, MI, Rob of Parker, CO, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Orvey, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenelle and three brothers, Roger, Everill and Norman.
