Jack Linquist

Jack Linquist, 91, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, October 19 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 24, at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend David Peterson, officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Lake Region Veterans Honor Guard. Entombment will be in the Peace Lutheran Memorial Garden in Edgemont, Arkansas. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Jack Linquist was born November 13, 1923 in Long Beach, CA to Raymond and Victoria (Waldemer)













Linquist. At the age of 12, he moved with his family to Kiron, IA where he graduated high school in 1942. He attended Iowa State University and worked for Boeing Aircraft prior to joining the U. S. Army Air Corps, December 2, 1944. He served as a bombardier and attended preflight bomb school. During his service, he earned the American Theater Ribbon, The A P Ribbon, The Victory Medal and two Bronze Stars. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to Kiron. Jack was united in marriage to Pat Dahl, April 3, 1948 in Kiron. They lived in Omaha, NE where he earned a BA Degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and worked as a sales representative for Wilson Meat Packing. They lived in Papillion, NE prior to moving to Fairfield Bay, AR in 1980. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 2010. Pat died in 2012. Jack enjoyed golf, bridge, lake activities, especially pontoon rides and swimming, visiting and a good cup of coffee. Survivors include a daughter, Deb (Bill) Wickum of Detroit Lakes, a son-in-law, Sam Hague of Cedar Rapids, IA, 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Wickum, Tyler (Kayci) Wickum, Jeremy (Alyssa) Hague, Rebecca Hague, Kelli (Kosta) Christakis, 3 great- grandchildren, Linden Hague, Carver Hague, Penelopi Christakis and one on the way. In addition to his beloved wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Hague, his parents and a brother, Clelland. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorials are preferred to the WDAY Honor Flights in care of Tracy Briggs, 101 5th St. N, Fargo, ND 58102 or to the church of the donor's choice.
