Toni Brogren

Toni Brogren 73, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away at Diamond Willow on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Visitation will be at David-Donehower Funeral Home on Monday, March 16, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 16, at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Toni Marie Eckes was born on October 3, 1946 in Dickinson, ND to John and Martha (Worth) Eckes. Toni was raised and graduated in Killdeer, ND.  After high school, Toni went to college at the University of Jamestown and graduated with her nursing degree.  In 1979, she moved to the Detroit Lakes, MN area to be closer to family.

On March 9th, 1985, Toni was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Brogren in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Audubon, MN.  Toni was known as a hard worker and worked for many years at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Sunnyside Nursing Home and at the Becker County Jail as a Registered Nurse.  She was known to be a very caring and kind nurse, who enjoyed sharing her knowledge while mentoring all the new nurses.  Toni enjoyed gardening, crocheting, antiquing with her sister, and collecting chickens.  Toni enjoyed reading and sharing the joy of books with her kids.  Above all, Toni was proud of her family and loved to spend time with them.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Gerald “Jerry”; sons Scott (Karen) Worden, John (Rose) Worden, Bob (Michelle) Brogren; grandchildren Zachary, Tyler, Ryan, McKinzie, Madison and Joshawa; great- grandchildren Norah, Baylee, Xavier and Mia; sister Kaye (John) Hoffert; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceding Toni in death are her parents and her daughter Kara.
