Adolph Iver Ilse was born June 5, 1928 in Pipestone, MN to Arthur and Julia (Moe) Ilse. As a young boy he moved with his family to Egan, SD where he was raised and educated. He served with the U. S. Army 1946 to 1971. Following his discharge, he moved to Mitchell, SD where he farmed and worked as a handyman. Adolph married Pat in 1968 in Mitchell. She died in 1978. He moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1979 where he worked as a security guard. Adolph was united in marriage with Doris Conn June 10, 1979 in Sioux Falls. He retired in 2006 and they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 2007. Adolph was a member of the D. A. V. He enjoyed spending time with his family, disassembling engines, his farm animals, dogs and cats, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and story telling.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Detroit Lakes; children, Melody and her husband Todd Thomas of Callaway, MN, Lorna and her husband Rick McMullen of Portland, OR, Forrest Moncrief and his wife Yvonne of Texas, Ferrell Moncrief of Inwood, IA, Gloria Moncrief of Colorado, Fern Moncrief of Montana, Ruby Moncrief of Texas, Jennifer Mendoza and her husband Juan of Texas, and Jimmie Moncrief of Washington; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gail Mayberry of Citrus Heights, California; brothers, Glen of Sioux Falls, SD, Gerald and his wife Gladys of Milwaukee, WI, Gary (Cindy) of Des Moines, IA, Donald (Loretta) of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. In addition to his first wife, Pat, he was preceded in death by a brother, Philip and one sister, Joan Mavis.
