Agnes G. Mastin, 93, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, June 15 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, June 22 at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend Mark Kuether, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Agnes Gerda Rosalind Mastin was born May 14, 1919 in Ft. Clark, ND to Carl and Mary ((Lynn) Skager. She was raised and educated in Center, ND. Aggie was united in marriage to John Mastin December 22, 1943 at the Methodist Parsonage in Detroit Lakes, MN. They farmed near Ogema, MN and, in 1964, purchased John and Aggie's Four Corners east of Detroit Lakes on Hwy 34. They sold the farm in 1967 and operated John and Aggie's until John's death in 1984. Aggie sold the business in January, 1985 and moved into Detroit Lakes. Aggie was united in marriage to Gilbert "Gib" Sanden November 19, 1987 in Detroit Lakes. He died in 2002. Aggie was known for her volunteerism, for serving coffee at Park Manor,
active in the Congregational Church, First Lutheran Church Quilters, and the Pride and Joy Homemakers, and of course her homemade donuts. She was always on the go and was well known as a hard worker. She loved time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, and the Minnesota Twins. She was full of spunk, known for wearing high-heeled shoes and dangly earrings. Her spirit and energy were contagious and brought inspiration to all those she met. She will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, humor and liveliness, that not only made us laugh but will forever remind us to make the best of each day. Survivors include three sons and two daughters: Harold (Alvera) of Embarrass, MN, Dale (Joann) of Osage, MN, Donnie (Joanne) of Osage, MN, Mary (David) Shaw of Duluth, MN, Marlys (Jerry) Oswald of Frazee, MN, 28 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren, three sisters: Zelda Graton of Yuma, CO, Elaine Lehmkuhl of Montana and Clarice Baker of Great Falls, MT.
In addition to her husbands, John and Gib she was preceded in death by a son, Eldon, a daughter, Evelyn, two step-daughters, Cynthia and Bernice, two grandsons, Ricky and Steven, brothers: Melvin, Marvin, Milton and Maynard; sisters, Irene, Betty, Dora, and her special friend, Charles Nethercott.
