Alberta Mae Jones was born August 15, 1940 in White Earth, MN to Thomas Sr. and Vivian (Fineday) Jones. Alberta attended Pine Point Elementary School and graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1959. She later went to Albuquerque, NM to attend nursing school before moving back to the Rotchert, MN area. For several years she worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital. Alberta moved to the Minneapolis – St. Paul area where she continued to work as a nurse’s aide and also did light paperwork for a few businesses. In 1999, she became ill and moved back home to be near her family. In July of 2001, Alberta became a resident at Emmanuel Nursing Home where she was able to enjoy her crossword puzzles, reading novels, and watching her daily soap operas. Alberta was well known for keeping her house “clean as a whistle” and for her cooking, especially her soups.
Alberta will be missed by her two daughters: Nicole Jones of St. Paul, MN and Janelle Johnson of Ponsford, MN, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters; Naomi Jones of Ponsford and Juanita Hardy of Ponsford.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Thomas Jones Jr. and Delmas Jones, one sister: Corrine Jones, two infant sisters, one infant brother along with one grandson.
