She grew up on the family farm, where commitment to family and friends, faith in God, working hard, playing hard, church, music, The Ten Commandments, and The Golden Rule were considered the facts of life.
Her marriage to Vernon K. Peterson on December 3, 1941, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, was followed by many years of homemaking and child rearing, with stops in Fergus Falls, Bemidji, and Detroit Lakes. As a member of the First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Alice was very involved in bible study, quilting circle, and Golden Agers. She lived her lifetime with a passion for others, nurturing everyone that surrounded her, and leaving a very special footprint on the hearts of everyone that knew her. Alice was quoted at her 80th birthday party, "I don't feel old at 80. Ask me again how I feel when I get to be 90!" Her energy and enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to everyone that knew her.
