Anna Schlauderaff

Anna T. Schlauderaff, 86, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, Msgr. Timothy McGee, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 6:30 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday. Anna Theresa Schlauderaff was born January 2, 1927 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Ernest and Cecelia (Esser) Amundson. She lived in several communities as a young girl. She is a 1943 graduate of Waubun High School. On a blind date on New Years Eve of 1943, she met the love of her life, Wesley Schlauderaff. The couple was united in marriage November 6, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They farmed with his brother, Harvey until 1951 when they began farming the family farm on their own. They retired in 1981. Wesley died in 2007 and Anna moved to Park Manor in 2008. Anna enjoyed time with her family, knitting, cooking, gardening, playing cards and taking care of the flower boxes at the Detroit Lakes Nutrition Center. Anna won many ribbons for her canning at the Becker County Fair over the years. For 68 years she was a member of Holy Rosary Church and Holy Rosary Christian Mothers, she was also involved with the Becker County Council on Aging and is a past recipient of the Becker County Senior Citizen of the Year Award. Survivors include six daughters: Roxanne and her husband Merlin Engum of Bemidji, MN, Linda and her husband John Schons of Detroit Lakes, Patricia Johnson and Walter Draack of Frazee, MN, Bonnie Schlauderaff of Detroit Lakes, Barbara and her husband Lionel St. Godard of West Hawk Lake, Manitoba, Canada, Joyce and her husband Wallace Holm of Detroit Lakes; eight sons: Daniel and his wife Barbara of Detroit Lakes, Gary and his wife Barbara of Detroit Lakes, Frank and his wife Sue of Hankinson, ND, Tim and his wife Stephanie of Barnesville, MN, Jeff and his wife Linda of Detroit Lakes, Wayne and his wife Dawn of Detroit Lakes, Bruce and his wife Kim of Detroit Lakes, Mark and his wife Sherri of St. Michael, MN; 30 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 35 grea- grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren, a sister: Florence and her husband Walter Hensel of Osage, MN, two brothers: Vernon Amundson of Mankato, MN and Charles Amundson of Boston, MA. In addition to her husband, Wesley, she was preceded in death by two children, Henry and Cecelia; one granddaughter, two grandsons, a great-granddaughter a great-grandson and a brother, Leonard.
