Annie M. Nieminen, 88, resident of rural Osage, MN, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo. Funeral Services for Annie will be held Wednesday, January 7 at 11AM in Gethsemane Lutheran Church, rural Osage. Visitation will be held at David Donehower Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6 from 5PM-7PM with a 6:30PM Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue at the church one hour prior to services. Annie Mary Lindbom was born January 9, 1926 in Shell Lake Township, rural Osage, MN to Gust and Wilhelmina (Waahtalo) Lindbom. She was raised and educated in Shell Lake Township attending country school at District 82. On June 4, 1944 Annie was united in marriage to Albert Nieminen at the family residence in Shell Lake Township. Together they farmed for several years. Albert passed away on October 22, 1967. Following Albert's death, she moved to be with her daughter Helen on the east coast.
Annie started working as a cook for 3-M Wonewok Restaurant and Lodge. After a few years at the restaurant, she started working as a cook for Park Rapids School District 309. For 22 years Annie continued her employment at the school until she retired in 1997. Annie enjoyed watching her daily soap operas and game shows and was talented in embroidery, cross stitching, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens in the summer and was a skilled cake decorator. Her beautifully decorated cakes graced many celebrations over the years. Annie will be remembered and missed by her daughter: Helen (Darrell) Drewes of Osage, three grandchildren: Dean (Lori) Drewes Heidi (Greg) Clements and Kaylea (Josh) Burlingame all of Osage. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Cory, Matthew and Kelsey Gibson and Holden Burlingame along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, four sisters; Signe, Elnora, Gladys, and Alice, two Brothers; Ralph and Harold, as well as a sister Lillian who died in infancy.
