Arlene L. Braun, 78, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. The Mass of Christian burial will be 1:00 PM, Monday, May 4 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Callaway, MN. Friends may call 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a 5:00 PM Prayer Service Sunday, May 3 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Arlene Lois Braun was born may 19, 1930 in Devils Lake, ND to Arthur E. and Mabel (Smith) Porter. She was a 1953 graduate of Ada (MN) High School. Arlene was united in marriage with Felix Braun June 15, 1954 in Callaway, MN. They farmed in Hamden Township, rural Audubon, MN until 1996 when she moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Arlene moved to Bovey, MN in 1997 and later that year she moved to Marbel, MN. She moved to Detroit Lakes in 2002. Felix died in 1993.
Arlene loved flower gardening, horses, spending time with family and life on the farm.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Karen (Thomas) Riggle of Ponsford, MN and Nancy Feltus of St. Paul, MN; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie DuChene of Ada, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix; daughter, Diana; sons, Robert and Edward; and one brother in infancy.
