Audrey Ortenstone

Audrey Luverne Ortenstone was born January 13, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Herder and Camilla (Hansen) Nelson. She graduated at age 16 as the Salutatorian of the Columbia Heights High School class of 1935. Audrey was united in marriage to Emil Ortenstone July 2, 1938 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN. They moved to Elgin, IL, returning in 1941. They made their home in Fridley, MN until moving to Sun City West, AZ in 1978. Emil died in October, 1993. Audrey moved to Detroit Lakes in 2009.

Audrey enjoyed time with family, especially playing cards with her grand and great grandchildren, playing bridge, Scrabble, and cooking. Survivors include 3 daughters: Cathy (Tom) Fritz – Detroit Lakes, Nancy Ortenstone (Pierre Delattre) – Taos, NM, Lori (Shane) Harrigan – San Diego, CA, 7 grandchildren: Carla O'Neal, Mark Fritz, Michael Fritz, Jennifer Tjosvold, Karin Fritz-Staley, Patrick Harrigan, Michael Harrigan, 10 great grandchildren and her special friend, Paul Leahy. In addition to her husband, Emil, Audrey was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Meryle Berntson and Dorothy Rose.
