Barbara Zapp

Barbara Joan Zapp was born September 7, 1943 in Detroit Lakes , MN to Clayton and Violet (Mercer) Blacknik. She is a 1961 graduate of Monroe ( Wisconsin ) High School. Barbara was united in marriage to Edward Zapp in 1965 in Detroit Lakes . During her working life, she was the business manager for Lake Region Clinic in Detroit Lakes and, after the merger of Lake Region Clinic and the Detroit Lakes Clinic, was the Assistant Business Manager for the new Dakota Clinic for 10 years. She moved to St. Cloud , MN where she was the Business Manager for the St. Cloud Women’s and Children’s Clinic for 10 years and then for McMann Hartman. She returned to Detroit Lakes in 2000 where she spent many hours volunteering for her beloved Congregational Church helping with the bookkeeping, newsletter, serving for fundraisers and funerals. She was also very involved with ZONTA, an international women’s organization and the Eagles in Detroit Lakes and St. Cloud .





Barb is survived by her Mother: Vi Christensen of Detroit Lakes; a son: Edward Benjamin (Stephanie) Zapp – Baraboo, WI; 4 grandchildren: Carrissa Zapp, Garrett Zech, Jacob Zapp and Meghan Zapp; 3 great grandchildren: Brandon and Cameron Zapp and Hunter Rosenbaum; Her Step-Mother: Kathy Blacknik of Detroit Lakes; Step-Brothers: Mark Blacknik of Detroit Lakes, Max (Annie) Blacknik of Grand Froks, ND, Ron Christensen of E. St. Louis, IL and Allen (Bonnie) Christensen of Minneapolis, MN; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by Dad: Clayton Blacknik, her step-Father: Kenneth Christensen, an infant sister: Bonnnie Blacknik, a step-sister: Joan Niemann and a grandson: Zachary Zapp.
