Becky Hemze

Becky Jean Hemze, 51, of Detroit Lakes, MN peacefully passed away January 17, 2024, at her home after a long battle with her health.

Becky was born on December 16, 1972, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was the daughter to Donald & Judy (Knutson) Erickson and the youngest of 4 children. Becky attended Lake Park Audubon High School graduating in 1991 and went on to study at Moorhead State University. She married Michael Frank in 1994 and together had their son Reed. They later divorced and she married Joel Hemze in February of 2004 and spent her days raising their 4 children together in rural Audubon.

Becky exemplified what a mother is, especially by providing plenty of amazing food on the table and many memorable family vacations. This was all provided with her stubbornness and excellent sense of humor. Her 2 grandchildren know her abundant love for them and there is no doubt they have an angel watching over them. Her strong will and determined spirit will live on in all those who knew her and will miss her.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, & sister-in-law.

She is survived by her Husband Joel, her 4 children Paetyn (Luke) Dreckman, Reed (Kyah) Frank, Tayler (Cam) Bosche, and Ava (Cody) Ulschmid. 2 grandchildren Cohen and Carter. Siblings Barb (Lowell) Grubb, Brian (Naz) Erickson, and Brenda Erickson. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation for Becky will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM at the DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME (609 US HWY 10 E., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).  A prayer service will be at 7:00 pm.  Visitation continues Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 10 AM at ST PETER’S LUTHERAN CHURCH (19747 CO HWY 6, Audubon, MN 56511).  A funeral service will be held at 11 AM with the Pastor Matthew Engum officiating.  Final rest will be at St Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.
