Boyd R. Peterson, 82, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, July 21 at his home. Graveside services will be 12:15 PM Monday, July 25 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. There will be no visitation. Boyd Ronald Peterson was born February 18, 1929 in Alexandria, MN to Philip and Hazel (Rhodes) Peterson. He was raised and educated in Parkers Prairie, MN, graduating from Parkers Prairie High School in 1946. Boyd served with the U. S. Marines 1951 – 1953. Following his discharge, he lived in California where he worked for Southern California Gas Company, 1958 – 1984. Following his retirement, he moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and made his home here since. Boyd enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle, and working in his flower garden. Survivors include a daughter: Catherine (Javier) Meza of Panorama City, CA, one granddaughter: Sophia, two sisters: Harriett Hienecke and Jeanette (Keith) Inwards both of Detroit Lakes. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Josette and his parents.
