Byrne R. Hildebrand, 62, Brainerd, MN, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died on July 10, 2017 at his home. There will be a celebration of Byrne’s life on Saturday, August 26 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Byrne Ray Hildebrand was born March 4, 1955 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Leonard and Edwedge (Blom) Hildebrand. He was raised in Detroit Lakes and is a 1973 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. During his high school years, he served as the Student Manager for the Football and Hockey teams. He also worked at Lynch’s Pizza in Shoreham and at the Shoreham Hotel. While in college, he helped in the construction of the power plant in Wheatland, WY, and also worked for the Canadian Professional Hockey School in Detroit Lakes. In 1977, he earned a degree in accounting from Moorhead State College in Moorhead, MN.
In 1984, Byrne moved to the Brainerd Lakes area where he worked for several companies and was the Controller for the Cote family companies for 17 years.
Byrne was a patient listener who shared his quick wit and wisdom with those closest to him. He will be missed by his Zorbaz on Gull family, where he enjoyed a beer, trivia and good conversation.
Byrne was a member of Grandview Lodge. He played on the Men’s League and Zorbaz League. He never took the game too seriously, was a great playing partner and truly enjoyed his time on the course.
Byrne is survived by two brothers: Hap “Mickey” Hildebrand and Peter Hildebrand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edwedge Hildebrand.
