Carole Surmon

Carole Ann Ballard Surmon, age 79, went home to meet our Lord on January 11, 2022. She is survived by her husband Richard Byron, her three daughters, Michelle Louise (Michael) Pariso, Denise Renee (Jamie) Newton, and Gigi Carole (Christopher) Manning, and four beautiful grandchildren, Devin Renee (Chris) Hearl, Taylor Anne (Matthew) Brewer, Summer Claire (Ethan) soon to be Iverson, and Simon Christopher Manning.

Carole, raised on the family farm in Ogema, MN, graduated from Waubun High School in 1960, and went on to earn a B.S. Degree in Education from BSU. She took a teaching job in Southern California where she met and married her husband of 55 years and raised her family. She was involved in many church activities and had many friends. She loved her arts and crafts especially when she could share her love with friends and family.

Carole leaves behind, in addition to her immediate family, six siblings, Curtis (Dar) Ballard, Mitchell (Lois) Ballard, Cecil Ballard, Rodney Ballard, Beverly (Thomas) Foltz, and Debbie (Dennis) Steffl as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Alvina Ballard.

A prayer service and celebration of life will be held at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN on Saturday, January 15th at 10:30 am. The service will be live streamed through the David-Donehower website.
