Caroline Kertscher

Caroline B Kertscher, 75, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo. Mass of Christian Burial for Caroline will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 4:00 PM in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. Caroline Bertha Eiynck was born June 30, 1935 in Richwood Township to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Lackowitzer) Eiynck. Caroline attended St. Benedict Mission School in White Earth and graduated from Waubun High School in 1953. Throughout her working career, Caroline was employed at various businesses in Detroit Lakes which included Graystone Hotel, JC Penny's and Blandings. She was united in marriage to Leonard V. Kertscher on June 30, 1956 in White Earth. They lived in Moorhead, MN for a short time before settling east of Detroit Lakes. For over 30 years, Caroline sold Avon products. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and St. Ann's Circle. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, tending to her flower garden and canning. Caroline will be remembered and missed by her husband Leonard of Detroit Lakes, six children: Deborah (Larry) Herfindal of Chisago City, MN, Linda (Richard) Branden of Detroit Lakes, Teresa (Dennis) Hasskamp of Aitkin, MN, Michael Kertscher of Detroit Lakes, Gary (Peggy) Kertscher of Detroit Lakes and Barbara (Paul Stawinoga) Young of Prairie Du Sac, WI. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two sisters: Florence Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN and Jeanette Pearson of Detroit Lakes along with several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Elizabeth.
