Carolyn Nelson

Carolyn Ruth (Forseth) Nelson, 79, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Carolyn Ruth Forseth was born on December 15, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Kinlund) Forseth. She grew up on the family farm in Perley, MN. She attended Hendrum High School, in Hendrum, MN as part of the class of 1959.

On June 3, 1961 Carolyn was united in marriage to Orland Nelson at Kirebo Lutheran Church in Perley, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, MN where they raised their three children. They later moved to Crystal Lake in Pelican Rapids, MN.

In 1980 Orland and Carolyn started the first real estate guides in the Fargo Moorhead area and the lakes area, called the MN Lakes Area Real Estate Guide.

Carolyn enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and baking. She loved to spoil her kitties, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her children.

Deeply loved Carolyn’s passing will be mourned by her two children; Renee (Tim Ashton) Nelson of Maplewood, MN, and Rick (Steph) Nelson of Hawley, MN, her five grandchildren, her two great-grandchildren, her sister Marlys (Ron) Carlson, and her brothers Dean (Leone) Forseth and Al (Jill Frei) Forseth.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orland, her son Randy Nelson, her parents Oscar and Ruth, her grandson Hayden Nelson, and her nephew David Forseth.
