Carolyn Sue Williams was born August 31, 1953, in White Earth, MN to the late William John and Martha Heisler. She passed away on January 1, 2025, holding her daughter Martha’s hand, under the care of Hospice.
Carolyn was raised in the Ogema area and graduated from Waubun High School and attended DL Vocational Tech in Detroit Lakes MN. She married the late Paul “Poncho” Williams in December 27, 1975. They lived in Bemidji, MN for a few years and then moved back to the White Earth area where they raised their two daughters. Carolyn and Poncho fostered many children throughout the years and provided a house that many people called home.
Carolyn worked for the White Earth Tribe for over 35 years as a HeadStart Teacher, ECFE teacher, and later became the Education Coordinator. One of her favorite sayings would be “oh I taught them in HeadStart, they were the cutest!”
Carolyn enjoyed playing cards, beading, baking, playing dice and visiting with family and friends. If you came to visit her, you could easily find her at the table listening to music, either beading or playing dice. She loved her dogs and would often be caught given them way too many treats.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Her love for children and teaching them songs will forever be a memory that many people will cherish. If you listen closely enough, you could her sing “She ripped and she roared and she sh** on the floor.”
Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Martha Williams and Julie Williams; three step-daughters, Karen (Terry), Angie (Dennis) and Jennifer; grandsons, I’zayah Williams, LeRoy Williams, Gerome Williams, Tommy (Alyssa) Bouressa, Andy (Haley) Bouressa, Brendan Fouss, and Rashad Haq; her granddaughters, Raven Fouss and Nevaeh Williams, as well as four great-grandchildren; her siblings, Patricia Anderson, Bonnie Badboy, Julie Steichen, Wilbur Heisler, Sandra Mertens and Willie Heisler.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Mary Dorman
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Benedict Catholic Church at White Earth on Thursday, January 9, 2025, with time to visit with family at 10am and formal services beginning at 11am. A time of food and fellowship to follow immediately after. Inurnment of Carolyn will take place in the spring of 2025 at Calvary Cemetery.
