Catherine Ann Granger, age 90, resident of Detroit Lakes, died on April 4, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Catherine Ann Greenough was born to Floyd and Frances (Bell) Greenough on May 12, 1919 in Crookston, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Crookston Central High School. Catherine attended Hamlin University in St. Paul, Minnesota. On October 27, 1939, In Northwood, Iowa, Catherine was married to Tracy R. (Bob) Granger. Together they lived in several different communities while Bob was in the service. After Bob’s discharge from the service, they settled in Crookston, MN. In 1952 Bob and Catherine moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. where they raised their family. Bob died in 1987.
Catherine enjoyed life. She loved golfing, gardening, flowers, reading and traveling. She had traveled extensively throughout the US as well as Europe and Mexico, and had many stories to share. She loved her family and her little dog, Maggie. Catherine was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Becker County Nutrition Center and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving Catherine are her Children: Susan (Charles) Morley, of Ashby, MA. Jeffrey (Suzanne) Granger, of Detroit Lakes, Robin (Doug) Friendshuh,of Detroit Lakes, and Jim (Carol) Granger,of Detroit Lakes.Twelve Grandchildren and Nineteen Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-Law Betty Greenough of Detroit Lakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, Great-Grandson, Jeffrey R. Granger and her brother, Frank Greenough.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
