Charles Clifford Lindberg, age 76, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 25, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, at David Donehower Funeral Home, with a rosary at 6:30 pm and a prayer service at 7:00 pm, and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church. Charles was born on October 10, 1939, in Wadena, MN to Leonard and Marguerite (Rice) Lindberg. He attended school at St. Ann's Parochial School in Wadena and graduated from Wadena High School in 1957. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1957 and earned the rank of E-4 while serving aboard the U.S.S Chevalier. He was honorably discharged in 1963. After his service he attended business school at the Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. On February 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Edith Seehafer at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. He then went on to work for Goodyear in Fargo, ND; Pierre, SD; Watertown, SD; and eventually settled in Detroit Lakes, MN. There he purchased Grover's Distributing. He retired from Grover-Lindberg Distributing in 2005 and went to work for People's Express. Charles was an active member at Holy Rosary, his community, and many clubs. He was a member of the Detroit Lakes Chamber of Commerce as a past president, and served on the city council. He was a member of the Jaycees, Eagles Club, Elks Club, Noon Rotary, Kiwanis, Lakers Booster Club, Master Mason, Knights of Columbus, Resurrection Choir, and in the Shriners. He also volunteered at Essentia-Oak Crossing and at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home. He enjoyed sports and travel. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edith; daughters, Dianne Lindberg of Champlin, and Nancy (Kent) Utke of Park Rapids; sons, Christopher (Sandy) of Detroit Lakes, Michael (Beth) of Roberts, WI, and Charlie T. ( Erin) of Detroit Lakes; sisters, Janice Miller, Julie Hoyt, Mary (John) Murray, Marguerite (Larry) Gaskins, and Teresa (Jerry) Wynn; brothers, Peter (Connie), David (Karen), and Michael (Patti); 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Marguerite.
