Charles Bernard Potter was born March 5, 1918 in White Earth, MN to Joseph and Sarah (Mason) Potter. He was raised and educated in White Earth. He served with the U. S. Army 1941 to 1945 and was a highly decorated soldier. He received 3 Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts and numerous other decorations. While in the Army, he also learned the meat cutting trade. Upon his discharge, he returned to White Earth and later lived in Glascow, MT; Minneapolis, MN and southern California where he worked as a meat cutter. He returned to White Earth where he was a night watchman for the R. T. C. He married Verna Fairbanks in White Earth in 1940. She preceded him in death in 2002
Charlie enjoyed his grandchildren, Pow Wows, the casino, rummage sales, reading westerns, especially Louis LaMour, trapping, hunting, fishing, and following the stock market. He is a charter member of the Glascow, MT. V. F. W and was instrumental in starting the White Earth American Legion.
Survivors include his children: Joseph (Patricia) of White Earth, LaVern Fairbanks of Naytahwaush, MN, Francis (Robin) of St. Paul, MN, Duane of St. Paul, MN, Margaret King of Spokane WA, Theresa Potter of Spokane WA, his Godson, Eugene (Grace) Clark of Ogema, MN, 24 Grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by infant sons,Everett and Francis, daughter Thelma, a step-son, Charles Fairbanks, brothers and sisters, Thomas, Anastasia, Louis and several infant brothers and sisters.
