Charles Svare

Charles Elroy Svare, age 77, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home's Memory Care Unit in Detroit Lakes. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon, Pastor John Merseth officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Church on Sunday, May 3; with a prayer service at 6:30pm and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Audubon. Charles was born to Calmer and Emma (Pederson) Svare on September 13, 1937 in Pelican Rapids, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Free Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. He attended Country School at Cormorant Village through the eighth grade. Charles was united in marriage to Janice Bahls on November 26, 1966 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Evergreen, Frazee, MN. They had no children. In 1972 Charles Joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon and served on the church council until 2004. For many years he served as the board of directors for a feeder pig company. He also picked up feeder pigs on the farm in North Dakota and Minnesota. Moreover, he delivered them to farms in North and South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. In 1991 he and his wife, Janice, bought and operated C&J Lake Service, a garbage route, until 2004 when his health began to fail. He is preceded in death by his parents, Calmer and Emma Svare-Lucken; a sister, Joanne Munson; and step-father, Joseph Lucken. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice; sisters, Mayves Svare of Moorhead, Delores Svare of Uhlen, and Elaine Black; a brother Kenneth (Marlys) of Audubon; and several nieces and nephews.
