Cheryl Keezer

Cheryl R. Keezer, 52, resident of White Earth, MN, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Services for Cheryl will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. Columba Episcopal Church, White Earth, MN. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM at the White Earth Community Center and continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Cheryl Renee was born September 25, 1958 in White Earth, MN to Harry and Irene (Jackson) Keezer. At a young age, Cheryl moved to Minneapolis with her family and received her education in the Minneapolis area. Cheryl was united in marriage to Kenneth Heisler on April 21, 1979 in Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1985, Cheryl worked for White Earth dispatch and also for White Earth Head Start. In 1988 she completed her degree at Moorhead State University and furthered her education at the Police Academy in Arizona. Following school, Cheryl continued her employment with the White Earth Conservation Corps serving as a conservation officer. In 1994 Cheryl received a promotion and until 1998, she served as supervisor of field conservation officers. She later worked as a counselor for the White Earth Half Way House and also as Administrative Assistant for Congregate Housing. She was in charge of setting up and planning trips, daily activities and helping keep track of elders' medications. In her younger years Cheryl earned her black belt in karate and enjoyed playing softball and basketball, traveling the tri state area with her teams. Later on in life, Cheryl continued her love for softball playing with her daughter and nieces around the lakes area and often traveling out of town for tournaments, coaching and playing. She also enjoyed riding horse, playing bingo, taking care of her pets and other stray animals that no longer had a home but most importantly spending time with her family. Cheryl will be loved and forever missed by her children: Joe (Michelle) Heisler of Ogema, MN, Kathy Jo Heisler of White Earth, MN and their father Kenneth Heisler of White Earth along with nephew Mike Maha and niece Leah Thompson. She is also survived by her eight precious grandchildren and sisters: Harriet "Dove" Keezer-Thompson of Twin Valley, MN, Laurie Smith of White Earth and Robert "Bob" Budreau of Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Nicki Heisler, brothers: Vernon "Pork" Keezer, Harrison Keezer and Joseph "Jig" Keezer and nephews: Richard and Devin Thompson
