Clayton Thurston

Clayton J. Thurston, 78, of Detroit Lakes passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, MN.

Clayton J. Thurston was born on January 12, 1943 in Cando, ND to Earl and Lydia (Klebaum) Thurston. He graduated from Egeland, ND high school as part of the class of 1961. Clayton joined the United States Army after graduation and served until 1963. Clayton was united in marriage to Kathryn Grady on November 29, 1966. He worked as a contractor most of his life.

Clayton was active with the DAV in Detroit Lakes. His favorite pastime was fishing; he enjoyed all the laughter and fun with friends.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 54 years Kathryn of Detroit Lakes, grandson Sloan (Cheyanne) Thurston of Fergus Falls, MN, and great-grandchildren Connor and Lydia.

He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lydia, and his brother Clinton Thurston.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at David-Donehower Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior.
