Clifford A. Tingesdahl, 80, resident of rural Frazee, MN, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Frazee Care Center, Frazee, MN. Funeral Services for Cliff will be held Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM in St. John Lutheran Church, Height of Land, rural Frazee, MN. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 23, 2011 at David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Monday. Clifford was born February 14, 1930 in Fargo, ND to Clarence and Hilda (Larson) Tingesdahl. He was raised and educated in West Fargo, ND graduating in 1948. After school he worked for Westgo Manufacturing making truck boxes for agricultural purposes. From 1951 until 1953, Cliff served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Cliff returned home early after being honorably discharged because of his father's illness. On May 28, 1954, Cliff was united in marriage to Marlys Nesemeier in West Fargo at Faith Lutheran Church. From 1953-1957, Cliff worked for Armour and Company as an accountant. He and Marlys later moved to California where Cliff was employed as a time keeper for Marquart Corporation until 1964. They later relocated to Medford, Oregon working for Harry and David Orchards until 1967. In 1969, Cliff and Marlys settled on Little Toad Lake Cliff built their cabin on Little Toad and worked for Building Sprinkler Company in Fargo, ND until his retirement in 1993. Throughout the years, Cliff and Marlys opened their homes to over 25 foster children. Cliff kept himself busy working at K-Mart in the automotive and paints department where he was able to share his knowledge and skills. He was considered a "jack of all trades", skilled in carpentry, electrical and plumbing. His generous nature was witnessed by many friends who he helped when it was needed. Cliff had the gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with a complete stranger often visiting hours on end. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, yard work and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Cliff will be remembered and missed by his wife Marlys of rural Frazee, MN, son David (Ranae) Tingesdahl of Detroit Lakes, one grandson David Jr. and foster son: Michael Knisley of Round Rock, TX along with 25 foster children. He is also survived by his foster sister: Vivian Gibbons of Renton, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Howard.
