Connie Otto

December 12, 1944 — January 20, 2022

Detroit Lakes

Constance Margaret (Andrews) Otto, age 77, passed away in Detroit Lakes on January 20, 2022.  She was a 1962 graduate of Stillwater High School, and went on to earn a master’s degree in Education. Following one year at Mankato State, Connie moved to the University of MN in Minneapolis where she met George “Ric” Otto. They married in 1965 and moved to Detroit Lakes in 1970.  Connie really enjoyed the students she worked with at the Waubun public school system where she taught for 31 years before retiring. She loved life at the lake, quilting, her dogs, family and friends. She was a member of the DL Community Center, and frequently attended meetings of the Engage Group, Literary, and Cabi parties.

She is survived by her husband, Ric, their daughter, Muriel (Russell) of Coon Rapids, MN, grandson, Brady Otto of Minneapolis, MN, and sister Muriel (Ande) Hassis of Ramsey, MN.  She is also survived by nephews, cousins and many friends and her bonus grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Andrews and son, Kinsey Otto.

Connie enjoyed quilting, especially annual quilting weekends at Maplelog, and being active in general.

Connie will be remembered as a caring person who brought joy to her family and friends and will be missed by those who were touched by her kindness.
