Connie E Sorensen

Connie Sorensen, age 84, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota from breast cancer. 

Connie E Sorensen was born on September 22, 1939, in Lidgerwood, ND.  She was the oldest child born to Albert & Lucinda Lawrence.  She graduated High School from Lidgerwood, ND and went on to get a teaching degree at Valley City State.  Her first teaching job in Tappen, ND also had her meeting her future mother-in-law.  In 1964, she married the late Darrell Sorensen and moved to the farm in Driscoll, ND. They had two children, Beth and Bret.
 
Her love for children and helping them learn was exemplified by her teaching career, work in a daycare and the joy that her grandchildren (and dog-grandkids) brought her.  She enjoyed spending her time outdoors, loved nature, flowers, thrifting, and camping.  The past 3 years she spent in Detroit Lakes MN allowed her to enjoy time on the lake, watching the deer in her backyard, shopping and eating lunch out weekly with her daughter.

She was called to eternal rest on January 24, 2024.  She will be missed by all who knew her.  Connie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Beth Pridday (Paul), Bret (Susan) Sorensen, and grandchildren Luke, Maggie & Anna, and many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, two brothers, Noel & Kim, and her parents. 

A service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 29, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
