Craig Wisted

Craig D. Wisted, 64, Waubun, MN, died Thursday in Rochester, MN from complications of AML. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 3 at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend Wade Dutton, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Lake Region Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Monday at the new David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Craig Duane Wisted was born March 6, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Morell and Beatrice (Olson) Wisted. He is a 1966 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. Following graduation, he worked for Sumner Electric in Detroit Lakes prior to entering the U. S. Navy in 1967. Craig was united in marriage to Judy Schleeter November 26, 1971. He served three terms in the navy, retiring in 1981. Following his discharge, he began work as a Field Service Engineer for IBM in the Twin Cities, retiring in 2007. He and Judy moved to their retirement home on Juggler Lake in rural Waubun. He enjoyed working with his violin and chainsaw collections; hinting, tinkering and building projects. He was a member of the Elbow-Tullaby Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Judy of Waubun, a daughter, Jennifer Wisted of Brooklyn Park, MN, a son, Bradley Wisted of Pequot Lakes, MN, three grandchildren, Nicholas Wisted, Seth Evenson and Jacob Evenson, three brothers, Bruce (Gail) Wisted of Detroit Lakes, Ron Wisted of Detroit Lakes and a sister, Jan (Jeff) Hartmann of Hillman, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant granddaughter. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to CaringBridge.com or Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
