Curtis E. Bresson, 75, of Detroit Lakes, MN and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at his beloved cabin in the evening hours of Friday, June 9, 2023. His wife and son Michael were at his side.
Curt was born in Montevideo, MN on December 15, 1947, a son of the late Everett and Alice (Wilking) Bresson. He married his high school sweetheart, Carilyn (Schultz) and together they raised two sons. Curt had a long fulfilling career as a wholesale grocer with Supervalu Foods. The family made their first home in Ramsey, MN then spent many good years in Fargo, ND and then moved to Victoria, MN. While in Victoria Curt served on the Business Development Committee for several years.
For over 30 years, Curt and Carilyn enjoyed their cabin on Big Floyd Lake. He loved being there and always had a project in the making. Curt took pleasure in owning several classic cars and had belonged to the Midnight Cruisers in Detroit Lakes. After retiring in 2012, Curt and Carilyn began wintering in The Villages, FL, where they made many great friends.
Curt is survived by his loving, wife, Carilyn, his sons: Scott Bresson of Fargo, ND and Michael (Dara) Bresson of Eden Prairie, MN; two granddaughters: Brook (Mason) Mikulecky and Elizabeth (Michael) Odegaard as well as three great-granddaughters: Evelyn, Natalie and Clara. Curt is further survived by his siblings: Ramona (John) Stein, Elton (Darlene) Bresson and Deb Bresson. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dewayne “Sonny” Bresson.
Curt will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 15th, 2023 from 1-3pm at DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME (609 US HWY 10 E., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).
