Cynthia Anderson

April 2, 1958 — January 10, 2018

After a hard-fought battle with liver and bile duct cancer, Cynthia “Cyndi” Rae Anderson passed away peacefully in her sleep on 10th Jan 2018 as a gorgeous sunrise was appearing in Fargo, ND. Cyndi is survived by her mother, Maxine Ann (Erickson) Anderson; sister, Melissa Anderson, both of Detroit Lakes; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Hilary Anderson, both of Westborough, MA. She is preceded in death by her father, Merlin Ray Anderson in 1980, and brother, Rick Anderson in 1984.

Cyndi was born on April 2nd, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa. The daughter of a veteran, she has lived in West Germany, Iowa, Idaho, North Dakota and Alaska, where she was blessed with her son, Joshua, in 1983. After a few years in Arizona, she moved back to Minnesota in 1989 to raise Joshua closer to family, eventually settling in Detroit Lakes.

Cyndi had a calling for helping all around her, and the love she shared with the world is most evident through her work. Her drive allowed her to strengthen the financial base for the Lakes Crisis & Resource Center during her time as their director. In 2003, her passion for helping others blossomed into a successful consulting business, Mosaic Consulting Inc., through which she was instrumental in furthering the development of various nonprofit organizations and local businesses. A true pillar of the community, she has served on various boards and local councils, including as the founding president of the Humane Society of the Lakes. She will forever be remembered for touching the lives of everyone she interacted with through her selfless and compassionate leadership.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, Jan 19th, at Donehower Funeral Home, and a memorial service on Saturday, Jan 20th, at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Cyndi. The family would like to thank the staff of the Mayo Clinic, Essentia Health in Fargo and Detroit Lakes, for their tireless dedication to Cyndi during her battle with cancer.
