Darla R. Fisher, 55, Nevis, MN, peacefully entered eternal rest in Heaven on Thursday, July 28, 2016 surrounded by her loving family following a long courageous battle with ALS. Darla was under care of St. Joseph's Hospice out of Park Rapids.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 2 at 11AM at David Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, August 1 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5pm-7pm. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery following the service. Darla Rae Mager was born November 23, 1960 in Perham, MN to John and Mary Lou (Eischens) Mager. She attended grade school in Dent, MN and high school in Frazee, MN graduating with the class of 1979. On August 11, 1979, Darla was united in marriage to Jeffery Fisher at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Life was fulfilled with the birth of their son, Nathaniel. Darla was a wonderful cook and often made different kinds of pickles, jellies and jams and was a skilled baker who will fondly be remembered for all the cakes she baked and decorated (self-taught) along with all the goodies she brought to work during the holiday seasons. Darla was also very crafty, making personal wedding blankets, cross stitching, crocheting and making cards. She loved to travel and was able to experience many sites over the years. While making their home in Detroit Lakes, Darla chose to stay home with their son and with her genuine love for children, operated a daycare business for 10 years. Darla later started working for Breezy Shores Resort as a receptionist. Darla and Jeff later moved to Nevis, MN and Darla was employed with Northern Lights Casino in Walker but because of the effects of ALS she had to retire in September of 2015. She was presented an award of appreciation from Northern Lights for her years of dedication and hard work. Darla always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters: Brooke and Jaidyn, who meant the world to her. Darla will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband, Jeff of Nevis, son: Nathaniel (Mary) of Alexandria, MN, and two granddaughters: Brooke and Jaidyn. She is also survived by her mother: Mary Lou Mager of Security, CO, four brothers and one sister: Gary (Sharon) of Miltona, MN, David (Linda) of Park Rapids, MN, John Jr. (Carol) of Security, CO, Mike (Lori) of Stedman, NC and Michelle Olson of Fountain, CO along with mother-in-law and father-in-law: Harvey (Marie) Fisher of Detroit Lakes, MN two sisters-in-law: Karen Mager of Colorado Springs, CO, Teresa (Scott) Parks of Wausau, WI, brother-in-law: Daniel Fisher of Rapid City, SD, Goddaughter: Nicole (Roy) Mass of Fountain, CO along with many nieces, nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, John (1983), one sister: Maxine (1990) and one brother: Harold (2014).
