Darlene Johnson

Darlene Elizabeth (Kohler) Johnson, age 80, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on Friday, July 17 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 27 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 26 at David Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, and will continue one hour prior to the service, at the church, on Monday. Darlene was born to James and Nora (Friese) Kohler on September 24, 1934 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up in Audubon and graduated high school in 1952. She was united in marriage to Thomas P. Johnson on December 3, 1955, and after their divorce she moved to Alexandria, MN. Darlene worked at the ASC office in Detroit Lakes and later for Federal Crop Insurance in Alexandria and Eagan, where she retired in 1998. Darlene enjoyed taking trips with her grandchildren, playing games, gardening, and visiting with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Danny (Carol) of Audubon, and Brian (Dori) of Erhard; two daughters, Christy Johnson of Detroit Lakes, and Brenda Christianson of Pelican Rapids; brothers, Gene (Darlene) Kohler of Detroit Lakes, Lloyd (Pearl) of Audubon, and Leslie Kohler of Detroit Lakes. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; James and Nora; brothers, Archie, Ronnie, Lyle, and Royal; and a sister Helen Hendrickson.
