Darlene Nordlund, 87, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Oak Crossing.

Darlene Mae Powers was born on August 22, 1932, in Casselton, ND to Al and Bessie (Wilcox) Powers.  At a very young age the family moved to the Strawberry Lake area. Darlene attended school in Waubun, MN.

One day while picking potatoes for an area farmer, Darlene met her future husband Wallace Larsen.  The couple were married in 1950 and raised three children together.  Wallace passed away in 1967. On October 25, 1969 she was united in marriage to Erv Nordlund.  The couple were married for over 40 years until Erv passed on January 4, 2009.

Over the years she worked for various businesses in the area including Arctic Cat, Emmanuel Nursing Home, Dixie Donut, We-Fest, and retiring from Swifts Turkey Plant.  Darlene loved to host parties, dancing, playing cards, crocheting, and spending time with family and especially the grand kids and great grandkids.

Darlene is survived by her children Terry(Elsie) Larsen, David Larsen, and Jason Nordlund;  grandchildren Jessica, James (Nikki) their children Ryan and Josh, Justin (Sarah) their children Oaklee and Finley; and Reed, Ashley, Hannah, Shelly, Melissa, and Jeremy; 7 great grandchildren; stepchildren Ron (Linda) Nordlund, Terry (Ann) Nordlund, Janis (Gary) Olson, Diane (Dennis) Castagneri, Kristi (Don) Nicholson, Darla Nordlund, Kevin (Kim) Nordlund, and Sherri Anderson; 19 step grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; and 1 step great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wallace Larsen and Erv Nordlund; parents Al and Bessie; daughter Bonnie Disse; and stepson Dale Nordlund; step-father Pearly Wichern; brother Don Powers; and sister Dorothy McDougall.
