Darrow Larry Johnson “Booboos” passed away peacefully Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND, at the age of 73.
Darrow was born on August 20, 1950, in Detroit Lakes, MN to Lawrence and Marjorie (Stallman) Johnson. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1968. In 1970, Darrow enlisted in the US Army where he served as Medical Corpsman. Post military service he worked at the Foundry in Detroit Lakes with his father, Lawrence, for 5 years. On September 29, 1979, he was married to Carol Dalve of Ogema, MN. He attended vocational school and acquired a degree in “Building Service Technician”.
Darrow enjoyed grouse and pheasant hunting in his early years. He also spent much time fishing. Darrow was an avid vegetable gardener which inspired his love for cooking. Darrow also had a love for music and everyone who knew him could attest he was always up for a good time. Darrow was always interested and open to learning new things, and one of the few people who still turned to the hard copy encyclopedia to obtain information. Darrow was a forever hopeful that the Vikings will one day take home the Superbowl title. He was a beloved Father and Grandpa to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his two children: Jeremiah (Kristen) Johnson of Hendricks, MN and Jennifer (Matthew) Enfield of Plymouth, MN; two grandchildren: Aidan and Avaline Enfield; his siblings: Roderick (Betty) Johnson, Joyce (preceded by Bob) Spilman, Kenneth (Dorine) Johnson, Mary Haga, Dwight (Rita) Johnson, Konnie (David) Conwell, and Brian (Julie) Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Johnson and father Lawrence Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday July 1, 2024, from 3-4pm at David-Donehower Funeral Home followed by memorial service at 4pm. Darrow’s final resting place will be at Fort Ripley Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
