Daryle "Ole" Olson, 82, passed away Sunday, May 10th at Fargo Veterans Hospital with his wife by his side.
Daryle Gene Olson, known as Ole, was born February 11th, 1938 to Alvin and Emily (Hegland) Olson. He was a 1956 graduate of Lake Park High School. Following graduation, he served in the US Navy and was stationed in Turkey and following his discharge he moved to Fargo, ND, where he worked for Coca Cola, Northport Clothiers and later operated a Norwegian specialty shop at Block 6.
Ole was united in marriage to Mary Stever on November 23, 1960 and they were blessed with two children—Kirsten and Erik. Mary passed away in 1978. Ole returned to Lake Park in 1979 and worked for Perkins in Detroit Lakes. He was married to Darlene Buehler on May 16,1981 in rural Lake Park. They owned and operated Mainstreet Restaurant in Detroit Lakes from 1987 through 1992. Ole then worked as a salesman for Food Services of America until ill health forced his retirement.
Ole’s favorite things were being with people, wood carving and playing cribbage or dominoes. Ole loved his family and friends—keeping his good humor and graciousness—even through his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Ole is survived by his wife Darlene; daughter Kirsten (Guy) Stiening of Fargo; son Erik of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Heidi and Logan Stiening; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ole was proceeded in death by his brothers Ardean (Eleen) and Harvey (Dorothy) of Lake Park.
