David Albright

David C. Albright, 70, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Saturday January 17 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 21 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel with Chaplain Vicki Marthaler officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday, January 20 with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and will continue one hour prior to the service at Emmanuel Nursing Home on Wednesday.

David Albright was born in Detroit Lakes, MN to Ernest and Sophie Albright.  He attended school in Detroit Lakes and was active in hockey, football and basketball.  He graduated from DLHS in 1956 and continued his education at St. Cloud State where he played hockey and graduated with a degree in Education in 1960. David married Sharon Myhre from Detroit Lakes in March of 1961; Sharon and David went on to have five daughters. David began his teaching career in Detroit Lakes as an elementary school teacher at Washington Elementary.  David and Sharon moved to Florida in 1967 where David continued teaching middle school math for over twenty five years.   He returned to Detroit Lakes in 2005.

David was active in sports; boating, hunting and fishing throughout his life and thoroughly enjoyed participating in tennis and boating with his daughters and watching his grandchildren play sports.  David participated in and completed the 26 mile Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN while in his 40's. He thoroughly enjoyed being on the water whether it be Detroit Lakes or the Atlantic Ocean and connecting with people.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Sophie; an infant brother, and an infant daughter.  He is survived by, Sharon Albright; daughters, Heidi (Randy) McPherson of  Davie, FL, Shelly (Jack) Maguire of Detroit Lakes, MN, Toni(Mike) Mehalko of Greensboro, NC, and Gretchen (Jorge) Coscuella of Miami, FL; and eight grandchildren.
