David N. Axdahl, 61, resident of White Earth, MN, died Monday October 6, 2014 at his residence in White Earth.
David was born January 4, 1953 in Park Rapids, MN to Duane and Dorothy (Jones) Axdahl. Following high school, David proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. for two years. After returning home, David started classes at the Minnesota Vo-Tech in Detroit Lakes learning the trade of carpentry and construction. David worked in the Cities for a few years until moving back to White Earth in 1981. In 1982, David was in a bad car accident. His work in construction became difficult following the accident, but David always helped family and friends on projects whenever he could. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends visiting over a cup of coffee and cherished time spent with his Grandchildren through the years. He enjoyed harvesting rice and leeching in his spare time.
David is survived by his companion of 34 years, Sandy Levy of White Earth, his children: Tura (Claudio) Tapia, David (Bianca) Axdahl, Starla Raymond, George (Alaina) Axdahl, Francis Axdahl, Duane Axdahl, Samuel Axdahl and Page along with 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition he is survived by three brothers: Duane Axdahl of Ice Cracking, Mike Escocabedo of Onigum and James Ortley of Minneapolis, seven sisters: Jeanetta Jones of Mahnomen, Cathy Reyes of Pine River, Patricia Salazar of Texas, Christine Reyes-Titus of Excelsior, Karen Goodman of Osage, Theresa Ortley of Minneapolis and
Lorraine Fabre of Moorhead.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Anna Levy, one aunt: Frances Rock, his grandparents: Oscar and Tura Axdahl, grandmother: Jeanette Jones, and two brothers: Douglas Axdahl and Richard Butcher.
