Dayle Arthur Peterson

Dayle A Peterson, 76, of Detroit Lakes, was born on September 30, 1947 in Crosby, MN to Arthur and Emma (Beyreuther) Peterson. He graduated from Tech High School in St. Cloud, MN. He married Janice on September 28, 1967.

Dayle began working for the MN State Patrol as dispatcher in 1970 in Rochester, MN. He transferred to Detroit Lakes in 1974 where he retired as Dispatch Supervisor in 2009. He and his wife also owned and operated Sunset Bay Resort in Vergas, MN from 1975 until 1995. Upon retirement from the MN State Patrol, he worked as Gaming Manager for Turn in Poaches in Detroit Lakes for 25 years. Dayle was also involved in ELKS for many years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and golfing.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, 3 children: Carla (Wayne) Ostrowski of Deerwood, MN; Troy Anderson of Otter Tail, MN; and Tony Peterson of Minneapolis, MN; 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and siblings Greg (Kathy) Peterson of Benson, MN and Elaine Patterson of Surprise, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jackie Hesch.

A celebration of Dayle’s life will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 1-4 PM at the Vergas Event Center, 140 W Linden St, Vergas, MN 56587.
