Delerine Pudwill

Delerine "Del" Marie Pudwill, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 8th at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, MN. A visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 7th at David Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 6:30pm. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service, at the church, on Monday. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Del was born July 11, 1931, to Barney and Florence (Dalve) Teiken at their rural Ogema/Callaway home. She grew up on the family farm, started her education in a one-room school house, began high school in Waubun, MN, and finished in Detroit Lakes after her family moved into town. Del married Henry "Spitz" W. Pudwill Jr. on February 5, 1951, and after a short time in Dilworth, MN, they made their home in Ogema. They were blessed with six children. Spitz passed away February 26, 1976, and Del continued to live in Ogema until November 2004 when she moved to Detroit Lakes. She held various jobs over her life, including positions at Lakes Dairy in the 1950's, the Waubun Liquor Store in the 1970's and 80's, and as a nanny in rural Detroit Lakes from the late 80's until the early 2000's. She was active in Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema for most of her life, as well as the local Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Del's greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. She loved attending their activities and also followed men's and women's softball teams in the local area for many years. She also traveled some in her later years, visiting her children and taking trips for senior citizens with her dear friend, Delores "Dee" Downey. Del is survived by her six children: Wayne (Linda) Pudwill of Detroit Lakes, MN, Gary (Terri) Pudwill of Bartlett, IL, Randi (Lauri) Pudwill of Lino Lakes, MN, Deb (Rick) Pavek of West Fargo, ND, Jeff (Raymond Laguna) Pudwill of Phoenix, AZ, and Dede (Don) Whalen of Fridley, MN; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 10 brothers and sisters-in-law, and dozens of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother and father-in-law, two brothers Gail and Irvin Teiken, nine brothers and sisters-in-law, one niece, and her friend Dee. A special thanks to the staff at Oak Crossing and the Hospice of the Red River Valley for the excellent care provided to our mother.
