Deloris Novotny

Deloris (Peterson)Novotny was born on August 16, 1928, to Peter and Susie (Amundson) Peterson, in Roseau, MN. She grew up and received her education in Roseau County. She married Robert P. Novotny on July 20, 1947, in Roseau. They lived in Roseau, Wadena, Red Lake Falls, Clearbrook, and Detroit Lakes. They shared 46 years of marriage before Robert passed away on January 24, 1994. Their marriage was blessed with six children: Diane, Joyce, Carol, Michael, Susan, and Joseph. Deloris worked for J.C. Penny's for 21 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed her friendships with her co-workers and customers. Deloris is survived by her children: Joseph of Detroit Lakes, Susan (Tom) Voss of West Fargo, Carol (Darrel) Kersting of Grand Rapids, Joyce (Steve) Bakkum of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Novotny of Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Peter and Susie; five brothers: Lawrence, Wallace, Clifford, Rodney, and Ralph; two sisters, Ruby and Betty Lou; two children, Diane and Michael; and a grand daughter, Teresa.
