Dennis Siekas

Dennis N. Siekas, 68, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services for Dennis will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM in David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Dennis Norman Siekas was born March 16, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to Norman and Marian (Eggleston) Siekas. In 1950, they moved to Detroit Lakes. Dennis attended school and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. He furthered his education by attending vocational school. On August 5, 1970, Dennis was united in marriage to Ranae Bien in Detroit Lakes. Over the course of his working career, Dennis was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Land O'Lakes Dairy and Snappy's in Detroit Lakes. His last job was working as a chef for Shooting Star Casino, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Dennis retired in 1998 due to complications with his health. Dennis enjoyed the simple things in life, he loved to hunt, fish, cook for family gatherings, watching his westerns on TV but most importantly spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he adored. Dennis will be remembered and missed by his children: Wade (Aida) Paulson of Superior, WI, Holly (Roger) Lester of Burnsville, MN, April (Peter) Bakke of Boyceville, WI and Troy (Sherri) Siekas of Watertown, MN. He is also survived by his 10 precious grandchildren, his mother: Marian Siekas of Detroit Lakes, two brothers: Mike (LuAnn) Siekas of Crookston, MN, David (Sharon) Siekas of Brainerd, MN and one sister: Gayle (Mike) Damlo of Detroit Lakes. He is preceded in death by his father, Norman.
