Diana Ness

Diana T. Ness, 66, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at St. Mary’s Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 3 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, Fr. Jerry Rogers, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Friends may call 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, November 2 with a prayer service at 4:00 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass on Monday at the church.

Diana Theresa Kapela was born September 2, 1942 in Forest Lake, MN to Chester and Rowena (Valincourt) Kapela. She moved to Moorhead, MN with her family as a child. Diana attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Moorhead for grades K-8 and Shanley High School in Fargo, ND where she was a 1961 graduate. Following graduation, she was a waitress in her parents’ cafes, Tri-State Café in Moorhead and West Fargo Truck Stop in West Fargo, ND.  Diana was united in marriage with Don Ness August 8, 1964 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead. They lived in Moorhead until moving to Detroit Lakes in 1970.

Diana enjoyed her family, especially time spent with her children and grandchildren, cooking and baking.

Survivors include her husband, Don of Detroit Lakes; daughter, Dawn (Doug Hoopman) Olson of Detroit Lakes; son David (Becky) Ness of Mounds View, MN; three grandchildren, Danelle Olson, Dahlen Olson and Peter Ness; sister, Shirley Sunby of Coos Bay, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Tracy.
