Donald DeGroat

Donald H. DeGroat, 79, Ogema, MN, died Thursday, December 16 at his daughter's home in Maplewood, MN surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 22 at Northern Lights Tabernacle in Richwood, MN. Friends may call 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Donald Harrison DeGroat was born December 6, 1931 in Callaway, MN to Floyd and Eleanor DeGroat. He was raised on a farm near Ogema, MN and, served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. During his working life, he was a construction worker and roofer in the Ogema area. Survivors include 2 sons and 4 daughters: Donald E. DeGroat, Dorothy J. DeGroat, Michelle (David) Horejsh, Barbara DeGroat, Penny DeGroat, Timothy DeGroat; 32 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 3 brothers and 1 sister, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a son: Floyd "Fritz" DeGroat and the mother of his children: Bernice St. Clair DeGroat.
