Donald D. Harmer, 78, Frazee, MN, died Friday, February 22 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 28 at the United Methodist Church in Frazee, Pastor Gary Klempke, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Friends may call 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee and at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Donald Duane Harmer was born August 26, 1929 in Frazee, MN to Ward and Gladys (Blaine) Harmer. He was a 1947 graduate of Frazee High School where he was an outstanding athlete and participated in the State High School Track Meet. Don was united in marriage with Angie Zitzow August 29, 1949 in Vergas, MN. They made their home in Frazee where Don drove truck and served as a dispatcher for Daggett Truck Line until going to work for J. C. Penney Company in Detroit Lakes in 1961. He retired in 1986. Dons family was the love of his life and he also enjoyed high school athletics and was a member of the Chain Gang for Frazee High School home football games for many years. He was active with the Detroit Lakes Eagles having served as President in 1971. He also served as State Eagles President in 1983 and was inducted into the Eagles Hall of Fame in 2002.
Don is survived by his wife, Angie of Frazee; two sons, Bruce and his wife, Candace of Savage, MN, Brent of Frazee; five grandchildren; and one great grandson; a sister, Linda and her husband Jerry Wagendorf of Detroit Lakes; a brother, Roger and his wife Nancy of Lumberton, TX.
