Donald LeRoy Syverson, known as Donny, was born May 18, 1954 in Wayzata, MN to Charles R. and Beulah Marie (Kaar) Syverson. He was the youngest of 5 children. Donny began participating in Special Education classes at the age of three and continued through grade 12. He lived in his parental home until reaching the age of 18 when he was placed in Adult Foster Care through the Audubon Career Education Center. He graduated in 1974 at the age of 20 and began working at Lake Region Rehabilitative Industries in their training program. He dropped out of this program in 1975 and returned home to live with his widowed mother.
Donny struggled with mental health issues throughout his life and lived in a variety of places. In 2004, he moved to his home in Kennedy Acres run by Dvine House. While he lived at Divine House, he worked at the Becker County Workshop four days a week. He was a very special and personal person who loved to talk to people and had a very special sense of humor. He will be missed by many people.
Donny loved to watch the Minnesota Vikings and Walker, Texas Ranger. He also enjoyed going for rides and going shopping.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Byer of Wilmar, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Beulah Syverson, two sisters, Charlotte and Elsie and a brother, Edward. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family. www.daviddonehower.com.
