Donald Syvertson, 82, of Lake Park, passed away at Diamond Willow on Sunday, June 7, 2020. A celebration of life is planned on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Michael Syvertson’s Farm in Lake Park, from 1-4pm with a 2 pm prayer service.
Donald Leroy Syvertson was born on December 7, 1937 in Lake Park, MN to Roy and Helen (Meinke) Syvertson. He was raised on the family farm and helped out with chores after school. Donald enlisted in the National Guard for a few years. After fulfilling his commitment with the National Guard, he went to work for Twin City Construction. After a few years, he went to work for GB Haug Construction before starting his own company, Syvertson Concrete and Construction in 1974. Donald dug graves as a side business for the local funeral homes throughout the 70’s and 80’s.
On January 10, 1959, Donald was united in marriage to Ardis Westlund and they resided in Lake Park. The couple raised two sons, John and Michael.
Donald was a hard worker and instilled his dedicated work ethic onto his two sons. His boys said that their dad might have retired but, he always kept himself busy with restoring old vehicles or mowing the yard. He enjoyed spending his winter’s in California for many years and lived in the summer with his son John before moving to Diamond Willow in January of 2019.
Deeply loved, Donald’s passing is mourned by his sons John (Kari), and Michael (Susan) Syvertson; grandchildren Amanda, Ashley, Cole, Isabella, Katelyn and Marie; great grandchildren Colden, Emberly, and Conrad; sister Dorothy Block; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Ardis; and brother Gordon.
