Doris C. Reller, 91, Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, December 23 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Doris Catherine Tieken was born July 22, 1917 on a farm near Ogema, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Jasken) Tieken. She married Greg J. Reller October 17, 1939 in Ogema, Minnesota.
They bought a farm near Ogema where they raised 4 children. In her early years, Doris volunteered at the White Earth Mission. She worked with Ogema Ladies preparing meals for many special occasions. She was a great cook! One of her many specialties was home made bread. She was an adult leader in 4-H and an active member of the Catholic Church, including Catholic Daughters and Eucharistic Ministry.
Doris loved family get togethers, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her other loves were the farm, gardening, playing bingo and taking care of others. Doris will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for her care giving and endless hospitality.
She moved to Detroit Lakes in 1991. In 1998 Doris entered Lincoln Park assisted living and later moved to St. Mary’s Nursing Center.
Doris is survived by 2 Sons: Ernest (Helen) of Pomeroy Wa; Robert (Merona) of San Jacinto, Ca; 2 daughter: Ilene (Phil) MacPherson and Mary (Rick) Nemec both of Detroit Lakes, MN; 15 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren; 2 brothers: Maurice Teiken and David Teiken both of Ogema, MN; 4 sisters: Marie Lohman of Littleton, CO and Lorayne (Lewie) Tryjillo of Littleton, CO; Elaine Hoban of Ogema, MN and Marge (Darwin) McArthur of Ogema, MN
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and five brothers.
