Doris Mae Weaver, age 79, of Pine Point, MN, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN.
Doris was born on April 21, 1936 to Albert Sr. and Anna (Rice)Basswood in White Earth, MN. She attended school in Pine Point and was a lifelong resident there. On July 1, 1961 she was united
marriage to Leonard Weaver in Pine Point. In 1974 she began working at the White Earth Health Representative Program where she worked for 32 years. She retired as community health coordinator on February 24, 2006.
Doris was active at Breck Memorial Church where she spent many years as the treasurer and as a lifelong member of the Bishop's Committee. She was a school board member for the Circle of Life School in White Earth. Doris was also a member of the Ojibwa Hymn Singers. Doris was a foster mother to many, including; Ramsey, Steven, Melina, Matthew, Michelle, Brad, Billi Jo, and Robin. Doris enjoyed playing softball and bowling to which she belonged to a league. She was very physically active and would take daily three mile walks, until her declining health prevented her. She was also fond of word find puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Butch) Smith of Ponsford, and Janelle Weaver of Ponsford; a son, Michael Weaver of Minneapolis; brothers, Albert Basswood Jr. of Ponsford, and Delmar (Gina) Basswood of Ponsford; sisters, Margaret Basswood of Ponsford, Mary Lou Basswood of Ponsford, Pat (Ed) Miller of Ponsford, Richinda Rock of St. Cloud, and Debra Conklin of Detroit Lakes; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Leonard; her parents, Albert Sr. and Anna; daughters, Dianne Kay, and Lenora Louise; a son, Calvin Dean; sisters, Rosetta, and Jennie; brothers, Maynard, Richard, and Rolland.
