Dorothy Heinonen

March 17, 1938 — August 17, 2013

Dorothy Ann Heinonen, known as Dee Ann, was born March 17, 1938 in White Earth, MN to George and Rose (Bunker) Thompson. She was raised and educated in the Ponsford area. Dee Ann was united in marriage to Lester Heinonen in 1955. They lived in Montana, Chisholm, MN, Chicago, IL and Minneapolis prior to returning to Ponsford in the late 1960's. She worked as a cook for the Pine Point Nutrician Center. They later moved back to Minneapolis where she worked for the American Indian Center. They returned to Ponsford in the late 1990's. Dee Ann enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, bead making and sewing. Survivors include 8 children: Michael (Kathy) of Minneapolis, Leslie (Valorie) of Ponsford, Perry (Tina) of Detroit Lakes, Robin (Muriel) of Ponsford, Lori Heinonen of Park Rapids, Sheila (Glenn) Harvala of Park Rapids, Lisa (Tom Butcher) Thompson of Frazee, Kevin of Detroit Lakes, 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, a sister: Francis "Frenchie" Benjamin of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 grandchildren and 4 brothers.
